Kitazato Vitrification / Thawing media
Equilibration and vitrification solutions, and thawing/dilution/washing solutions, used with the Cryotop method.
What it is and how it's used
Widely used vitrification chemistry. Outcomes are dominated by timing, temperature and loading volume — the media are unforgiving of storage excursions and expiry.
Typical failure modes
- Lower survival in a cohort frozen with a particular media lot or after a storage excursion.
- Survival with partial lysis when thawing solution is below temperature.
What to check first
- Lot, expiry, storage temperature; bottle open date.
- Timing in ES and VS steps by stopwatch; thawing solution temperature by probe in the well.
- Volume around embryo at loading.
