Culture dishes, pipettes and plastics — general
Dishes, tubes, pipette tips and stripper tips that contact gametes and embryos.
What it is and how it's used
Any plastic that touches the culture system can be embryotoxic in a bad lot or if not IVF-grade. Changes are easy to overlook because they are 'just consumables'.
Typical failure modes
- Fertilisation and cleavage drop after a new dish/tip lot or a substitution during a supply gap.
- Gloves (powdered or new brand) contaminating dishes.
What to check first
- Every consumable lot change in the fortnight before the KPI change.
- Whether items are MEA/HSSA tested and IVF-labelled.
- Glove brand and handling practice.

Use IVF-grade, tested consumables; log lots; avoid substitutions without validation.
